What Is a VCF File?

A VCF (Virtual Contact File), also known as a vCard, is a universal file format for storing contact information such as names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Android devices and Google Contacts natively support this format.

Step 1: Export Your Contacts

Option A: Export from the Contacts App

  1. Open the Contacts app on your Android device.
  2. Tap the menu icon (☰ or ⋮) in the top corner.
  3. Select Settings or Manage contacts.
  4. Tap Export or Export contacts.
  5. Choose a save location — Internal storage is recommended.
  6. Select Export to .vcf file.
  7. Choose All contacts, or select specific contacts to export.
  8. Tap Export or Save.

Your contacts will be saved as a .vcf file on your device.

Option B: Export from Google Contacts (Web)

  1. Open a web browser and go to contacts.google.com.
  2. Sign in with your Google account if prompted.
  3. (Optional) Select specific contacts using checkboxes; skip to export all.
  4. In the left sidebar, click Export.
  5. In the pop-up window, select vCard (for iOS Contacts) as the export format.
  6. Click Export.

The .vcf file will download to your computer. Transfer the file to your Android device via email, cloud storage, or USB connection if uploading from your phone.

Step 2: Locate the VCF File on Your Device

  1. Open the Files app or File Manager on your device.
  2. Check the following locations:
    • Internal Storage → Downloads (most common)
    • Internal Storage → Contacts
    • The custom location you selected during export
  3. Look for a file ending in .vcf (e.g., 00001.vcf or contacts.vcf).

Tip: Use the search function in your file manager and type .vcf to find it quickly.

Step 3: Upload the VCF File to WeddAI

  1. Open the WeddAI app on your Android device.
  2. From the home page, select your wedding event.
  3. Tap the menu icon (≡) in the top corner.
  4. Select Contacts from the menu.
  5. Tap Import or Import Contacts.
  6. Choose VCF Card Upload from the import options.
  7. Your device’s file browser will open — navigate to your .vcf file and select it.
  8. Once the file is processed, tap Done.

Your imported contacts will now appear in your WeddAI guest list, ready for organization and management.

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t find the VCF file? Ensure you completed the export step and check your Downloads folder. Search for .vcf in your file manager.
  • Contacts not showing after import? Try closing and reopening the WeddAI app. If issues persist, re-export the VCF file and try uploading again.
